About The Artist
Marisu Buquet Born in Uruguay on September 15, 1959, during her childhood, developed a great passion for art spending time with her father, architect, and painter, visiting museums, studios, galleries, theaters, and plastic expression workshops. Creative by nature, with a talent to transport the innumerable sources of inspiration to her canvas, she began painting professionally in the early 90s. Bachelor in architecture studied at the Universidad del Trabajo del Uruguay technical drawing. She worked at several architect’s studios and projects of decoration. In 1995 she was responsible for the Brazilian edition of the magazine “Seccion Aurea”, created by her uncle, caricaturist and painter Hermenegildo Sábat. She has lived in Porto Alegre, Sul of Brazil, for the last 30 years, and today his life is divided between Porto Alegre, Punta del Este (Uruguay) and Miami (USA) where she maintains her ateliers. During all the phases throughout her career, Marisu maintained a very strong and particular identity, her colorful palette, her strong brushstrokes, her expressiveness, reflect her inspiration and her maturity in the handling of her art. Her work is considered Expressionism and has been exhibited in galleries in North and South America, as well as in Europe.
